Full Terms and Conditions
Consent to Participation
By registering my child for Starty Arty workshops or courses through the website, I confirm my consent for their participation. I acknowledge that my child will be using materials such as scissors, glue, paint, pens, and acrylic pens. All activities will be closely supervised by an experienced art teacher at all times to prioritise safety. While every reasonable precaution will be taken to ensure my child’s safety, I understand there is an inherent risk associated with the use of these materials.
Parents or guardians must provide accurate and up-to-date emergency contact details during registration. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure this information remains current throughout their child’s participation in Starty Arty sessions.
Booking and Availability
Places for Starty Arty sessions are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of full payment. Once a session is fully booked, additional registrations will be placed on a waiting list. Parents will be notified if a space becomes available, and these will also be offered in the order of the waiting list. To secure a spot, we recommend booking as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
Age Range and Suitability
Starty Arty workshops are designed for children aged 6-11. If your child falls outside this age range but you are interested in them attending, please contact Starty Arty to discuss suitability.
Liability and Insurance
We strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for all participants. While every precaution is taken to ensure your child’s safety, I understand that Starty Arty and the instructor are not liable for accidents or injuries during workshops, including minor mistakes, unforeseen events, or risks inherent to the activities.
Starty Arty holds appropriate public liability insurance to cover its activities. However, I also acknowledge that risks such as damage to clothing or personal belongings are not the responsibility of Starty Arty.
Children will receive clear instruction on how to use the equipment safely during the workshops. Additionally, all activities have been thoroughly risk-assessed to ensure a safe environment.
Child Safeguarding
Starty Arty prioritises child safeguarding and welfare. All sessions are designed to be conducted in a safe and supportive environment. Our instructor is a member of the The Tutors Association and holds an enhanced DBS check to ensure compliance with safeguarding requirements.
Health and Safety
-
My child will be instructed on the safe use of all materials and is expected to follow these guidelines to ensure their own safety and that of others.
-
In the event of an emergency, I consent to emergency medical treatment for my child if necessary.
-
Allergen Disclosure: Please note that hay is stored on the premises, and three guinea pigs reside in a separate area upstairs. Individuals with hay or animal allergies should consider this when deciding to participate.
Medical Information / First Aid Consent
It is the parent or guardian’s responsibility to provide accurate and up-to-date medical information. Failure to disclose relevant medical information may impact Starty Arty’s ability to ensure a safe environment for your child.
I consent to the following:
-
Basic first aid treatment to be administered to my child for minor injuries.
-
If further medical attention is required, I understand I will be contacted immediately.
-
In a serious medical emergency, I authorise Starty Arty to call an ambulance on my child’s behalf and allow medical professionals to provide necessary treatment. If I or the emergency contact cannot be reached promptly, I authorise the instructor to act in loco parentis and make emergency medical decisions. Every effort will be made to contact me or the emergency contact as soon as possible.
Illness
If your child is too ill to attend a session, parents must inform Starty Arty as soon as possible via email. Please note that refunds are not provided for missed sessions due to illness. In line with school health policies, if your child has vomited or had diarrhoea, they must observe the 48-hour rule before returning to sessions to help prevent the spread of illness.
Children with contagious illnesses, such as chickenpox, flu, or COVID-19, should not attend sessions until they are no longer contagious.
If a child becomes unwell during a session, parents or guardians will be contacted and asked to collect their child promptly. In exceptional circumstances, such as long-term illness, refunds or credits may be considered at the discretion of Starty Arty.
Behaviour Expectations
Starty Arty sessions are conducted in a home environment to provide a comfortable and welcoming space for creativity. To ensure a positive and respectful atmosphere, all participants are expected to follow these house rules:
-
Be Safe: Follow instructions and use materials responsibly to ensure everyone's safety.
-
Be Kind/Respectful: Treat others, the instructor, and the environment with kindness and respect.
-
Be Your Best Self: Engage positively and contribute to a supportive, creative space.
Disruptive behaviour, such as persistent refusal to follow instructions, unsafe conduct, or actions causing distress to others, will not be tolerated. If necessary, the instructor may ask a child to take a brief timeout. Continued disruptive behaviour will result in parents or guardians being contacted to discuss the situation. In extreme cases, a child will be asked to leave the session without a refund.
Please note that certain areas of the home are strictly out of bounds, including the upstairs and specific areas of the kitchen, living areas and drawers and cupboards. During the summer months, the garden may be used for activities. We ask that all participants treat the home environment with care and respect.
Communication with Parents
Parents will be contacted promptly if there are any concerns about their child during a session, including illness, injury, or behaviour issues. Updates or changes to the schedule will be communicated via email or phone. Please ensure your contact details are accurate and regularly checked.
Mobile Phones Policy
To ensure a focused and creative learning environment, children are not permitted to bring or use mobile phones during classes or workshops. If a child brings a mobile phone, it must remain switched off and stored away for the duration of the session. Starty Arty is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged devices.
Parental Liability for Damage
Parents or guardians are responsible for any significant damage to property caused by intentional or negligent behaviour by their child. In such cases, parents may be asked to cover repair or replacement costs.

In such cases, we will make every reasonable effort to offer alternative arrangements or reschedule sessions.
Drop off and Pick-Up
Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring their child arrives on time and are picked up promptly at the end of each session. Parents and guardians are encouraged to arrive 5 minutes early for drop-off to ensure sessions can start on time. Late pick-ups beyond 10 minutes after the session’s end may incur a late fee of £5 per 15 minutes, payable before the next session.
To maintain focus and encourage independence, we kindly ask parents to drop off their children at the door, and pick them up at the end of the session. If your child needs extra support, please discuss this with us in advance.
Parents or guardians must notify Starty Arty in writing of any individual other than themselves authorised to collect their child. Identification may be required.
There is parking on the road outside, be aware it is a bus route and it is advisable to park close to curb and be mindful of wing mirrors.
Use of Images and Media Consent
Starty Arty may take photographs or videos of children during sessions to promote future workshops and events, including on social media and the website. If parents or guardians do not consent to images or videos of their child being used, they must inform Starty Arty in writing and ensure the instructor is aware of their decision before the session begins.
Storage of Artwork
Starty Arty will store most artwork created during the 5-week course to ensure it is kept safe and accessible for ongoing work throughout the sessions. However, there may be instances where certain pieces of artwork are sent home during the course for safekeeping. In these cases, parents or guardians will be informed if the artwork needs to be brought back to class for further work.
At the end of the course or project, all completed artwork will be sent home with the child. Starty Arty will take reasonable care to store artwork safely during the course but cannot accept liability for any accidental damage or loss.
Use of Artwork
I grant permission for my child’s artwork to be photographed or displayed for promotional purposes related to Starty Arty, including online or in print. If I do not consent, I will notify Starty Arty in writing.
Clothing and Attire
Art activities may involve materials such as paint, glue, and pens, which could stain or damage clothing. I will ensure my child is dressed in old clothes suitable for messy activities or provide an apron for protection, though I understand the apron may not fully protect clothing from damage. Starty Arty is not liable for damage to clothing incurred during sessions. For after-school clubs, children can use a small downstairs bathroom to change if needed.
Damage to Artwork
We encourage creativity and free expression, but we ask that participants handle their artwork with care and respect. Accidents can happen, and in such cases, Starty Arty will work with the participant to assess the situation and make repairs where possible. If the damage is intentional, we will discuss the next steps with both the child and their parent/guardian, as we take this very seriously. We’ll also ensure all participants receive guidance on proper handling to minimise the risk of damage.
Snacks and Drinks
Children may bring a water bottle and a small, nut-free snack to sessions. Snacks must comply with a strict no-nut policy to protect participants with allergies. For after-school clubs, Starty Arty will provide a small snack (biscuit) and drink of water. If your child has specific dietary restrictions, allergies, or preferences, please inform Starty Arty in advance.
Note: Sessions are conducted in a home environment where nuts may be present in the kitchen, but nuts will not be consumed or provided during sessions. Nuts are stored in cupboards and are out of reach.
Personal Belongings
Starty Arty is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings. I will ensure my child’s belongings are clearly labelled and appropriate for activities. It is recommended to avoid bringing valuable items.
Special Needs and Accessibility
If your child has specific learning, physical, or emotional needs, please discuss this with Starty Arty in advance. We aim to provide an inclusive and supportive environment and will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your child’s needs. Due to the layout of the property, certain physical accessibility accommodations may be limited. Please discuss specific requirements with Starty Arty in advance. Unfortunately, the property is not accessible for wheelchair users due to its layout.
Privacy and GDPR Compliance
Starty Arty complies with UK GDPR regulations to ensure the confidentiality and security of personal data. Information provided during registration will only be used to facilitate the safe operation of our sessions and will not be shared with third parties, except in emergencies. Data is stored securely and retained only as long as necessary for operational or legal purposes.

Changes to the Workshop Schedule
Starty Arty reserves the right to make changes to the workshop schedule or format due to unforeseen circumstances, such as instructor illness or emergencies. In such cases, alternative arrangements will be made, and parents will be informed promptly.

Acknowledgment and Agreement
By registering my child, I confirm that I have read, understood, and accept these terms and conditions, and I agree to adhere to them. I accept full responsibility for my child’s participation and behaviour during Starty Arty sessions.
